Campus Tales
Campus Tales is an oral history project recording the memories of students and staff at Newcastle University. You can listen to an edited selection of the oral histories collected by subscribing to our podcasts.
We hope to show the impact the university has had on Newcastle, and to encourage people to explore this important part of the city centre with fresh eyes. The project will create a series of entertaining and informative audio stories which show how campus life has changed over the last 50 years.
Please tell us what you think of the podcasts, or let us know if you’d like to contribute your own campus tale in the future.
About us
All recordings have been made by students at the International
Centre of Cultural and Heritage Studies, as part of our coursework
for an MA in Museum Studies. The project has developed our skills in oral history
recording and editing. We have also had to consider how to interpret the complex
history of one of the most significant institutions in the north east. New
stories and podcasts will be added to this website each year by different students.
Campus Tales has been funded by the Catherine Cookson Foundation.
